Time for a Change

As I write this, I am finally coming to realize that once escrow closes, so will this chapter in my life. I have learned a lot about myself and others in the past few years. I also realized that I want to travel. I want to spend time exploring this great country at my own pace - stopping for an hour or for a week or more!

I thought about one of those sweet vans, but they are too small to live in for an extended period and they are VERY expensive. I thought about a camper trailer with a truck, but that would mean I would always have to worry about leaving it somewhere and having to come back to get it. The best option for me will be a used Class C RV.  The mileage isn't great but I won't be driving hundreds of miles every day AND I won't have to pay $2500/month for an apartment! When I am done with my travels, I can sell it or look at renting it out as a second source of income.

I know there are downsides to an RV, but having enough space for me and the cat will be awesome! I will keep my e-scooter and get an e-bike for short trips.  The challenge will be to get Tibs trained to wear the harness I got for him and to tolerate being outside with a leash! I think once he understands that will be the only way he can go outside, he'll get onboard.

Photography continues to be my passion, but the events side of the business has become extremely competitive and the number of other photographers I encounter that have pushed or disrespected me has soured the experience. I will do work for charities that I am passionate about, but for the next 6 months to a year, the photos I take will be for me! I want to experience the incredible sights of sunrises and sunsets across our great nation. I will keep myself open to opportunities along the way and maybe find a new place to call home!

I really used to enjoy Huell Howser's "California Gold" program on PBS. He was such a kind and curious man who looked for the unique places off the beaten path. He always looked for the best in people.  I hope to take his philosophy and spread kindness and shed light on the often overlooked and underrated places and people across the country as well.

We are a nation as diverse as they come and it is that diversity that makes us great! I intend to celebrate this uniqueness on my journey and to share it with you! Who knows, maybe I can get a book or two out of the experience!
